miriam and j.r.

miriam and j.r. were married last saturday at harpeth heights baptist church. the reception was held at embassy suites in cool springs. everyone had the best time! and j.r. and miriam were so great to work with. they were totally laid back, cool and in love. thanks for such a great time you two! hope you're enjoying tahiti! :)

i am literally running out the door to catch a flight. i will be in ohio over the next couple of days for a senior session. i'll return emails and phone calls upon my return!

rehearsal dinner

last weekend was the wedding of j.r. and miriam. the weekend kicked off with a great dinner at bound'ry restaurant. they were surrounded by friends and family from all over the country who had come to celebrate this great day with them. here are a couple from the rehearsal dinner as well as a couple more favorite engagement photos. enjoy!

a camping we will go

on friday night brian, benny and i went camping at meriwether lewis national park. i'm not that great at documenting our times together... i ended up taking more photos before we actually left than while we were at the campsite. :) it ended up being a perfect night for camping as it only got down to the high 40's and it didn't rain. we had a great time and are looking forward to getting to go again soon. here are a few from the weekend!

gettin' comfy
ready to go camping!

funny story... brian HATES being in photos. too bad he married a photographer :)
benny was wiped after our trip. here he is finishing up some of my reading for me ;)

sunrise, sunrise

{listening to norah jones this morning, so the title only seemed fitting.} on friday morning, there was a gorgeous sunrise out my window. so what did i do? i hurriedly grabbed my camera gear and benny and we hopped in the car. by the time we were ready to shoot, the sunrise had lost some of it's glory, but still beautiful nonetheless. benny was pretty sleepy and wasn't really up for a photoshoot, but we got these.

i let my blog slip last week. i'll be catching it up today! :)

Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?

The Summer Day
by Mary Oliver

Who made the world?
Who made the swan, and the black bear?
Who made the grasshopper?
This grasshopper, I mean—
the one who has flung herself out of the grass,
the one who is eating sugar out of my hand,
who is moving her jaws back and forth instead of up and down—
who is gazing around with her enormous and complicated eyes.
Now she lifts her pale forearms and thoroughly washes her face.
Now she snaps her wings open, and floats away.
I don't know exactly what a prayer is.
I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down
into the grass, how to kneel down in the grass,
how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields,
which is what I have been doing all day.
Tell me, what else should I have done?
Doesn't everything die at last, and too soon?
Tell me, what is it you plan to do
with your one wild and precious life?

I got this poem from a friend's blog and wanted to share. It's good thoughts for the weekend.

michael + sarah

on friday night i ventured around downtown with these two for their engagement session. what a great time we had! they are such a fun couple to be around, were willing to try any of my ideas and even threw in a few of their own. michael kept us laughing the entire night! thanks for being such good sports and sweating it out in the heat. looking forward to november 24!

jake + anna claire

ooh, i love newborns! jake and anna claire were 10 weeks old when i met them. it was so fun to see their very different personalities and looks. when i got there, they were both well rested, fed and warm. it made for the perfect newborn session! i had such a great time shooting these two that it even gave me the slightest urge to have one of my own. :) thanks to the family for having me over. i hope you enjoy these!

sarah grace

meet sarah grace. she is a new big sister to twins, loves the little mermaid, is really good at recounting the story of the little mermaid and has a new found love for colorful lollipops. i visited her home to take photos of her new twin siblings, but also snuck away and grabbed a few of her. she was shy at first but had been anticipating her time in front of the camera all morning long. isn't she adorable?

keep close because i will soon be sharing from my time with her new twin brother and sister.

also, thank you to everyone who sent get well wishes! i am feeling better and ready to say good-bye to the cold virus for good... it just likes to stick around for a while. have a great weekend!

so there's this race...

... that is going on among a group of photographers throughout the country. they are running and competing against each other to see who can rack up the most miles over the course of 30 days. in order to do this, they're using a sensor to track the mileage that hooks up to the latest ipod. i really wanted to be a part of this, but don't have the right ipod in order to be a part of the competition. so, i'm doing a little race against myself to get into better shape and back into a consistent workout. over the next 30 days, until november 4, i will do my normal run everyday and will also cut refined sugar out of my diet. you may be wondering how this involves you...? well, if i miss any days on running or cheat on the sugar, i will give away a complimentary weekday session. the way it works... be the first to email me once you see that i haven't made my run. it's that simple! if i get lazy... you win. :) stay tuned!
