jacob and heather

wanna' win a canvas print? send in your email for this contest!

i met up with jacob and heather during my time in oklahoma. heather and i go way back... all the way to ms. willis and mrs. borum's kindergarten afternoon class. so, we've known each other since we were five and could definitely share some stories about each other and classmates! it was great to see her and i was so excited to meet jacob. heather and jacob are getting married soon and had me capture their engagement photos. we started out at the downtown westend park, worked our way around downtown and then headed to van buren to get their matilda in some photos. these two are crazy about each other and it was so fun to see them together. here are a couple of my favorites...

exciting changes

last month i attended a great conference for photographers who are early in their business. it was a good time of networking, making new friends and hearing from experienced photographers. since then, i've been working on changing some things up to make things run smoother and better for everyone. one thing that i really wanted to address was whether or not i should continue to cover weddings. this wasn't because i don't enjoy capturing weddings, but was considering this because of the time it consumed ... in a business being run only by me. i felt that i couldn't effectively run both the portrait and wedding side. so, two days after i got home from the conference, the perfect opportunity presented itself! drumroll please... i am joining up with the dynamic duo at mclellan studio to begin Studio 5 Photographic Artists! i will now be able to accept more weddings than before and get to continue in something i absolutely LOVE doing. you can check out the work in progress by clicking here. we're pretty much the coolest wedding team around :)

adrian hitt photography is undergoing a new look and will continue capturing slices of your family life... even the furry ones :) also, as of this coming friday, august 31, i will be running adrian hitt photography full-time! be sure to stop by on friday because we might have a little celebration!

for now, here's a peek into Studio 5!

friend from elementary school and five-year wedding anniversary

while we were in oklahoma last week, we spent time with family but i also was able to shoot a few sessions. the first one was a trip down memory lane with a good friend from grade school. tiffany and i spent so much time together in late elementary and junior high! many many afternoons were spent at her house playing "college", dancing, watching movies, me watching her cook and running around outside. we also played the piano together, sang and even picked up some photography along the way. i love to reminisce!!... but onto our recent time together. tiffany and dustin just celebrated their five-year wedding anniversary earlier this summer. so, i traveled out to their home that is nestled on 50 acres of land. upon arrival, we pulled out the 4wheeler and went searching for photo ops across their place. here is one of the places we found (and my favorite from the session! :) )

"glowing sun"

ooh, so lovely!

sigur ros video

English Translation for Glósóli

Glowing Sun (Bright Sun)
Now that you’re awake
Everything seems different
I look around
But there’s nothing at all

Put on my shoes,
I then find that
She is still in her pajamas
Then found in a dream
I’m hung by (an) anticlimax

She is with the sun
And it’s out here

But where are you…
Go on a journey
And roam the streets
Can’t see the way out
And so use the stars
She sits for eternity
And then climbs out
She’s the glowing sun
So come out I awake from a nightmare
My heart is beating
Out of control…

I’ve become so used to this craziness
That it’s now compulsory
And here you are…
I’m feeling…
And here you are, Glowing sun…
And here you are, Glowing sun…
And here you are, Glowing sun…
And here you are…

it's that time again! more portraits of little oliver :) he is now 9 months, crawling everywhere and has 4 teeth. it's been the neatest thing to watch him grow! i first took pictures of him when he was only 6 days old and here he is 9 months later...

his older brother, solomon, jumped in for a few pictures as well :)

j.r. and miriam

last week i met jr and miriam at historic cedarwood in nashville. (be sure to check out their site as they are a great venue for weddings!) even though it was a hot day, we had such a great time. this couple had the giggles! so many of my portraits are of them laughing together. thanks for such a fun night :) here is one of my favorites!

and on a sidenote... i have returned all emails and phone calls from being out of state. if you haven't heard from me, i may have not gotten it. just send me another email and we'll be in touch!

nashville parent magazine

two weeks ago i met up with the friendly folks at Nashville Parent Magazine to shoot their september cover. here are the two cuties that were chosen for the cover!

carson

carson is also a child that i photographed at the very beginning of my photography venture and how he has grown! his family is very close to my heart and i had a sweet time with them as we all chased carson around the neighborhood. they also have a new addition to their family.

carson and his "yawny" :)
meet zoe. a miniature schnauzer. absolutely precious. :)
i couldn't resist posting this one!

carson and avery

a couple of weekends ago, i met up with this brother and sister. they were one of my first clients when i started adrian hitt photography at the end of last year. it was so exciting to return to their home and see how much they have grown and how their personalities have blossomed. it's such a neat gift i have to be able to step in families' homes and lives and capture a slice of it.

at the end of the session, jennifer broke out the water sprinkler and ice cream cones. it was funny to watch them and i wanted to share these from our time together. enjoy!

katherine

i met this beautiful little girl a couple of months ago and we got together a few weeks ago for a little shoot. she did perfect and afterwards she took me around her home and she took pictures with her camera :) i loved it!

married 10 years, 4 kids and still crazy about each other...

meet the utley's! their session was packed with lots of energy as i chased their 4 boys around their home. what fun and i still don't know how they do it! :) we did get a few moments alone with mom and dad and here's a little peak from that time...

grandma + grandpa

brian and i haven't been home to see our families since christmas, so we have ventured to the midwest for a few days. while here, i'll be shooting a few sessions and will look forward to sharing those, along with sessions from the past few weeks. while we're away, i'll have sporadic email access but will have access to my phone. i'll be back in the office on friday morning. for now, here's a portrait of my grandmother and grandfather. they have been married for 60+ years! i was able to visit with them on saturday and it was a sweet time as i haven't seen them since last thanksgiving. it's so nice to be back around family!

i've been tagged!

okay, so i was tagged and now i am going to tell you 8 little things that you may or may not know about me! :)

smalltown america
i grew up in a smalltown in oklahoma that is on the border of oklahoma and arkansas. creatively, they named the town "arkoma."

love at first sight?
brian and i first met when i was a sophomore in high school! it may not have been love at first sight then, but was when we ran back into each other 3 years later :)

family
i have 2 parents, 1 sister, and 2 brothers. my 2 parents are kind of goofy and named us all with the same initials...
andrea nicole
adam nicholas
adrian noel
aaron neil

graduation
when i graduated high school, 14 of us including myself, had been together since kindergarten. talk about some memories!

when i grow up...

i was so uncertain of what i wanted to do once i got to college, i think i changed my major 3-4 times just in my freshman year. one of those being before classes even started! my poor roommate, lauren, thought i was crazy!

nic
i am an aunt to nicholas adam and just found that my sister and brother-in-law will be starting the international adoption process :)

ER please
i'm getting desperate for little known facts, so here it goes. i was born clinically dead and had to be rushed to the ER to be recessitated. luckily, it worked!

workaholic
i started baby-sitting at the age of 11 and had my first full-time job at the age of 14. i haven't stopped since!

catalog for coco bonbons!

about a month ago, i had great fun shooting the spring 2008 catalog for a new children's clothier named coco bonbons. if you follow my blog, you'll remember that i covered their day spent at the martha o'bryan center. as they outfitted 30 children with new raincoats and matching attire. coco bonbons is perfect for infants up to a children's size 6. you can find a store near you by visiting their site here.

i just got the catalog in and wanted to share some of the excitement!

thanks to everyone at coco bonbons for such a successful shoot. also thanks to joe at powell creative for amazing design work and sameera at loud & clear communications for keeping us all put together and on task!
